Negotiations between the Presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in to attend the SCO Samarkand Summit, took place on September 15, the presidential press service said in a statement.
At the meeting, the parties noted that the multifaceted Uzbek-Russian cooperation "has in recent years reached an unprecedented high level." Last year and in seven months of this year, the two-way trade rose by 30%.
The parties agreed to adopt a joint Comprehensive Action Plan for the development of industrial and technological partnership, primarily in the areas of electronics, pharmaceuticals, textile and clothing and knitwear industries.
As part of the visit of the Russian President to Uzbekistan, a package of new investment agreements worth over $4.6 billion was signed in the fields of mechanical engineering, chemistry, petrochemistry and geology.
The parties agreed to create joint industrial parks in the provinces of Uzbekistan, to hold the next Forum of the Provinces of Uzbekistan and Russia in October this year.
The Presidents also commended the rich and diverse cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
Reportedly, Uzbekistan today is the leader in terms of the number of foreign branches of Russian universities, the report says. Over the past four years, branches of 12 Russian universities have been opened, bringing the total number to 15.
"The presidents exchanged views on issues of the regional and international agenda of mutual interest," the press service added.
At the end of the meeting, which was held in a sincere and friendly atmosphere, the parties reiterated their commitment to further strengthening the strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia.
Following the talks Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin signed a declaration on a comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Russia.
In the ends, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded the Russian Order of Alexander Nevsky.
