Uzbekistan will ban the import of low energy efficiency household appliances. This is provided for by the September 9 presidential Decree.
The Decree amends the 2019 August 22 presidential decree, which prohibits the import into the territory of Uzbekistan of used generating equipment, power step-down transformers, electric motors, as well as energy-consuming equipment of energy efficiency category D from September 1, 2019. С 1 January 2022, the import of energy-intensive household appliances of efficiency category D is prohibited.
The Decree is also supplemented with a list of 18 D and lower energy efficiency category household appliances, which are prohibited for import into Uzbekistan:
- central heating boilers;
- exhaust hoods and cabinets, the largest horizontal dimension of which is not more than 120 cm;
- air conditioners;
- refrigerators and freezers;
- flow or storage water heaters, non-electric;
- dishwashers (household);
- washing machines (household or for laundries);
- vacuum cleaners;
- other household electromechanical appliances;
- electric water heaters;
- electric heaters;
- microwaves;
- electric stoves, electric stoves, electric cooking boilers and panels, built-in and other ovens;
- monitors and televisions;
- incandescent, gas discharge, electric, sealed, ultraviolet, infrared, arc, light-emitting diode (LED);
- light-emitting diodes (LED), including laser diodes;
- chandeliers and other lighting equipment;
- appliances for use with incandescent lamps.
The decree also provides for the development of a draft National Energy Saving Program to reduce electricity consumption in all sectors of the economy and energy consumption standards for government agencies and budget organizations. This target is planned to achieved with the involvement of foreign consultants.
Since 2016, the designation of the energy efficiency class of electrical appliances has been mandatory in Uzbekistan. The designations A, B, C, D, E, F and G have been introduced to define the classes. Class A has the highest energy efficiency, G has the lowest.
