Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Monday.
According to the Uzbek president’s press service, the parties reviewed topical issues of further development of the Uzbek-German multifaceted cooperation, as well as regional cooperation.
At the beginning of the conversation, the President of Germany sincerely congratulated the head of state and the multinational people of Uzbekistan on the 31st anniversary of the country's independence. He especially noted the results of the ongoing reform program of recent years and expressed support for the implementation of democratic and economic reforms in Uzbekistan.
The two leaders commended the high level of bilateral relations achieved through the implementation of top-level agreements. Year-to-date, the two-way trade has grown by 60 percent. With over 200 leading German companies are successfully operating in Uzbekistan, the last month, well-known enterprises such as Knauf, Papenburg and Falk Porsche launched their new factories in Uzbekistan.
As a result of the regular meeting of the Uzbek-German business council, held in July this year with the participation of more than 100 representatives of German business, the preparation and implementation of 24 new investment projects in high-tech sectors of the economy began. Mutually beneficial financial and technical, cultural and humanitarian cooperation is expanding. The Goethe Institute, the Konrad Adenauer and Friedrich Ebert Foundations and other German organizations are actively working in our country.
The counterparts supported the expansion of practical cooperation, as well as the promotion of joint programs and projects aimed at deepening long-term partnership and focused on the regional cooperation, including within the framework of the development of a constructive dialogue through the European Union. The importance of continuing active cooperation in order to promote long-term peace and the socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan was noted.
