An attempt to sell 40 hectares of land plot for $3 million was prevented in Bostanlyk district of Tashkent province, the Prosecutor General's Office reported.
The operation was conducted on April 15 by the Prosecutor General's Office, the Department for the Prevention of Theft of Land Resources of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Tashkent City Environmental Prosecutor's Office and the Tashkent Province Department of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office.
Reportedly, a plot of 40 hectares was allocated by the decision of the Bostanlyk district mayor’s office to LLC M. B.B. with an obligation to implement a $30 million kindergarten project and a commercial and residential complex. However, no construction has begun on the site.
The prosecutor's office received information that company officials intend to sell the site through a man named Elmurod for $3 million.
During the event, while receiving an advance payment of US$ 180 thousand, four entrepreneurs and an assistant to the Mirzo-Ulugbek district mayor, who did not have ownership of the plot, were detained, who agreed to sell 40 hectares to citizen D.A.
The province department under the Prosecutor General's Office opened a criminal case under Fraud, Types of accomplices and Bribery of the Criminal Code. The District Prosecutir’s Office is investigating.
