Uzbekistan and India will soon hold joint military drill. While, the Indian authorities offered the Uzbek authorities a soft credit line for purchase of defense equipment.

"Uzbekistan and India successfully conducted two joint anti-terrorist drills in 2019 and 2021 named Dustlik. We are now preparing for the Dustlik-III exercise in Uzbekistan, which will take place in the near future. These exercises have a huge importance given the evolving security situation in both Central and South Asia,” said Indian Ambassador Manish Prabhat.

According to him, defense cooperation between Uzbekistan and India had significantly grown over the past five years. The focus in this area is on military education, training, capacity building, joint exercises and military-technical cooperation.

Every year, India, within the framework of its Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation program, trains the personnel of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan in various higher military educational institutions. Regular online exchange of experience on various military security issues is also carried out between the institutions of the Armed Forces of India and Uzbekistan.

"India is interested in expanding its military-technical cooperation with Uzbekistan. We expect the Uzbek delegation to visit the Indian Defense Exhibition, which will be held in the city of Gandhinagar, Gujarat from March 10 to 13. India has also offered Uzbekistan a soft credit line for the purchase of defense equipment. Both countries regularly maintain high-level contacts in the field of defense cooperation, and in the coming years these relations will be further strengthened," he said.
