Law enforcement agencies of Tashkent province detained the first deputy mayor of Chinaz district, Umid Yuldashev (appointed to this position last July), the spokesman to the Prosecutor General's Office Khayot Shamsutdinov said.
The first deputy mayor is suspected of having promised, through his acquaintances in the mayor’s office, to finalize documents for sale of 35 hectares of irrigated land belonging to a farm in Akkurgan district. For this service, he reportedly demanded $90,000. The official was detained while receiving 40 thousand dollars.
Criminal case was opened under Sale or other illegal alienation of the right to an irrigated land plot or parts thereof and is punishable by a fine of 400 to 500 basic units (US$ 40-50 thousand) or house arrest from 2 to 5 years with deprivation of a certain right or imprisonment up to 5 years).
As reported earlier Umid Yakhshiev, deputy mayor of the Mirishkor district was also arrested. He reportedly promised through acquaintances to help allocate 1,000 hectares of land for the creation of a livestock cluster. The Kashkadarya province governor announced the launch of "an uncompromising fight against corruption."
