In the Kashkadarya province,  the deputy mayor of the Mirishkor district in charge of support of the mahalla and family, Umid Yakhshiev was detained while receiving 50 thousand dollars in a bribe, announced the spokesman to the General Prosecutor's Office Khayot Shamsutdinov.

He allegedly promised through acquaintances to help to get 1,000 hectares of land for setting up a livestock cluster.

A criminal case against Umid Yakhshiev was initiated agains him and he is now facing Fraud and Complicity in giving a bribe charges. The suspect has been detained.

The case was initiated under the article fraud, because the allocation of land is not within the powers of the deputy mayor, the department specified.

At a meeting on February 7, the Kashkadarya province governor Murotjon Azimov said that "an uncompromising fight against corruption" had begun in the province.

“I want to announce today that an uncompromising fight against corruption has begun in the province. We need to think about the reputation and development of our country, and not about the reputation of the organization or the governor’s office,” Ahror Sadikov, spokesman to the province governor’s office, quoted the mayor as saying.

According to him, the deputy mayor of the Mirishkor province was detained while receiving 50,000 out of 80,000 dollars, although the mayor’s office does not deal with land issues.

“I do not justify the mayor of the district. Have you read social media? Sherali Sanaev (mayor of the Mirishkor district), writes: "The fish rots from the head." Unfortunately, there is truth in these words. When I visited Mirishkor, the elders came to me and asked me to bring water to the center of the district. In the mayor’s office there are those who do not deal with these issues, but think only about themselves and how to get rich sooner?” asked Murotjon Azimov.

“Corruption in our society in all its manifestations hinders our development,” said the mayor of the province.

“If we do not prevent this plague, we will not be able to create a real business and investment climate, and in general, not a single area of society will develop. Any leader who fails to comply with the instructions of the president will be relieved of his post,” he stressed.

Murotjon Azimov said that all employees in the province governor’s offices, including ordinary workers, would be checked.

“I also know that some district administrations are visited by people who do not work there. You like such people, but I hate such pests, they are the ones that hinder development. Access to governor’s offices will also be under full control,” he said.

The governor said that he began to dismiss the mayors of several districts for shortcomings in their work or dishonest performance of their duties. “You will hear a lot when the legal study is completed,” the mayor underscored.
