On February 7, Minister of Energy Alisher Sultanov held talks with a delegation of Volkswagen Group Rus LLC, headed by General Director Stefan Mecha in Tashkent, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.
Reportedly, the steps taken in electric vehicles production in Uzbekistan caused great interest for Volkswagen Group Rus LLC.
“Import of electric vehicles is currently waived from excise and customs duties in Uzbekistan. Recharge stations for electric cars operate at a number of gas stations, and private business is developing in this area,” the statement added.
In addition, the delegation was introduced to projects for the development of renewable energy sources in the country. The parties also discussed promising joint projects.
