Today, the Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, the Foreign Ministry said.
Reportedly, the parties discussed topical aspects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN and its specialized structures in the field of human rights.
The UN Special Rapporteur highly valued the efforts of our country to ensure the rights and freedoms of citizens, to provide effective assistance to people who find themselves in difficult situations in other states, including the return and repatriation of people, especially women and children, from war zones in the Middle East.
The parties exchange views on the situation in Afghanistan and expressed shared opinion about the urgent need to provide the Afghan people with emergency humanitarian assistance.
