Uzbekistan in 2022 will unify the main part of the technical regulations in force in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov said, speaking at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which took place on November 19 online.

The head of government added that Tashkent attaches great importance to the harmonization of the regulatory framework with the EAEU norms, primarily in the field of technical regulation.

Abdulla Aripov added that within the framework of unification with the EAEU, work is being completed on the harmonization of 22 regulations, systematic work is continuing to bring another 26 regulations into line with the standards of the Union.

In his remarks, he also touched upon the issues of trade with the EAEU.

“Uzbekistan is ready to carry out guaranteed supplies of a number of agricultural goods for which there is a demand in the EAEU. In turn, we are also interested in purchasing certain types of food from the countries of the Union,” said Abdulla Aripov.

The Prime Minister underscored the importance of strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of balancing the food market of the EAEU countries.

“Considering the urgency of ensuring food security, we propose to develop a joint cooperation program to intensify interaction in this direction,” added Abdulla Aripov.

The Prime Minister also said that Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate with the EAEU on the climate agenda.

“In the face of growing environmental challenges, we are ready to cooperate with a high-level working group of the EAEU on the climate agenda,” Abdulla Aripov said.

The PM emphasized that Uzbekistan also expects the active participation of representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission and partners from the EAEU countries in the implementation of innovative projects in the Aral Sea region of Uzbekistan, declared by the UN General Assembly a zone of environmental innovations and technologies.

Abdulla Aripov also invited participants from the EAEU countries to discuss the implementation of joint environmental projects during the international forum on green energy, which is scheduled for September 2022 in Nukus.
