The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on 19 November. According to the Kremlin press service, the two leaders will discuss the ways to further advance bilateral ties, focusing on trade, investment and humanitarian cooperation. They will also discuss international issues, including the situation in Afghanistan.
"A solid package of bilateral documents has been prepared for signing," the Kremlin said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about the documents to be signed during the visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Moscow today.
“During the visit, a major joint political statement on cooperation in the field of international information security will be adopted. During the meeting, the Presidents will sign 18 documents aimed at further deepening cooperation in various fields. Special mention will be made of the International Treaty on Nuclear and Radiation Safety, the documents on deepening cooperation in construction, energy, industry and agriculture,” he said.
According to Lavrov, during the visit the parties will sign an agreement on cooperation in the field of international information security, a memorandum of intergovernmental understanding on biosafety.
“These are two current aspects of events that are evolving in the modern world and reflect this area of our cooperation, as well as threats in the field of cyberspace and biological security. We plan to adopt a cooperation program between the two ministries. It is designed for 2022-2023. It defines the vector of common interests of Russia and Uzbekistan and the promotion of the national priorities of each state in the international arena,” he said.
Earlier, a migration amnesty was announced, which allowed 158,000 Uzbek citizens who could not cross the Russian border to enter the Russian Federation.
