According to the January 25 Presidential decree on perpetuation of the memory of the First President, a memorial complex is being erected on the grave of Islam Karimov in Samarkand.
The President gave recommendations on how to improve the project and noted that it is required to reduce the height of the stairs, expand and improve the area around the complex, install modern lighting system.
"Islam Karimov was a great man, the founding father of our independence, he laid the foundation for the prosperous life of the people, revived our spirituality," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said. - The complex should reflect the greatness, purity of thoughts and convictions of our First President, his meaningful life, selfless service to the country and the people. With this complex, we must express our love and respect towards Islam Karimov, our national identity. "
The Head of the country noted that the mausoleum should be harmonious with Hazrati Khizr mosque. Instructions were given to build high aivans for pilgrims in harmony with the appearance of the mausoleum, creating comfort for official delegations.
