On October 27, the Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the regular meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the countries neighboring Afghanistan, held in Tehran, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

In his remarks, the Minister Kamilov underscored that today a completely new reality has developed in Afghanistan. An interim government has been created, which has full authority and seeks to gain international recognition.

He added that in the foreseeable future Afghanistan will remain an important factor of regional security, directly affecting the national interests of countries of the region, first of all, the neighboring states.

He especially emphasized that at the present stage it is necessary to develop a post-conflict strategy with regard to Afghanistan in order to prevent the international isolation of this country.

“The attendees reportedly highlighted the key importance of consolidating the efforts of the international community in the issue of rebuilding the Afghan economy, providing the friendly Afghan people with emergency humanitarian and other assistance,” the Foreign Ministry concluded.
