The National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan will build the country's first digital substation, the Ministry of Energy said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Zafarabad 220 kV digital substation project is being implemented with the support of the Asian Development Bank and will be commissioned in 2023 in the Jizzakh province.
“The Zafarabad digital substation with a high automation degree of technological process control, equipped with the high-end information technology and control systems and auxiliary will provide additional capacity for the province’s power system by 500 MW,” said the deputy head of the company Feruz Kurbanov.
Following an international tender, the contract for the project on a turnkey basis was awarded to the Chinese Shanghai Electric Group Co. The consulting company for the project is GOPA - International Energy Consultants (Germany).
