Shavkat Mirziyoyev today had a telephone conversation with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the presidential press service reported.
He congratulated the Russian leader on his birthday and underscored "the historical role of President Vladimir Putin in the formation of modern Russia and his personal contribution to the strengthening of the Uzbek-Russian ties of strategic partnership and alliance," the statement said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Vladimir Putin reportedly discussed preparations for the upcoming high-level state visit to Russia, which will take place next month.
The two leaders reviewed the ways to expand multifaceted cooperation between the two countries and commended the dynamic development of interaction in all areas.
They also exchanged views on topical issues of international politics and regional cooperation, including in the context of the development of the situation in Afghanistan.
