The President Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday hosted the Pakistani Foreign Minister Mahmood Qureishi, the presidential press service said.
The parties commended the dynamic upward trend in the Uzbek-Pakistani ties and multifaceted cooperation. Shavkat Mirziyoyev T stressed that the high-level talks held in July this year in Tashkent marked the beginning of a new stage of bilateral cooperation.
Mahmood Qureishi conveyed greetings and wishes of the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, and also expressed sincere gratitude for the active efforts of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to ensure stability and prosperity in the region.
During the talks, the parties focused on the situation in Afghanistan, and emphasized the importance of continuing close interdepartmental contacts and exchanges on aspects of ensuring regional security.
The parties also expressed their commitment to further joint promotion of the Termez-Mazar-i-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar railway project.
