Islamabad calls on all countries of the world to engage in dialogue with the Taliban movement that came to power in Afghanistan. The Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi announced this at a press conference on 23 August.
“The international community must remain in contact with the Taliban,” he said.
According to the Pakistani Foreign Minister, in the near future he will visit Iran, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.
He also noted that Pakistan intends to promote peace in Afghanistan and hopes that other states in the region will do the same.
Today, on August 25, he landed in Dushanbe on a one-day visit.
In addition to issues related to the advancing the Tajik-Pakistani ties, the parties will discuss the current situation in Afghanistan.
