Bo Andersson from Sweden has been appointed as the new director general of UzAuto Motors and UzAuto Motors Powertrain, the Uzavtosanoat said in a statement.
Prior to this appointment, he was incharge of the European division of Japanese component manufacturer Yazaki since 2017. It is one of the world's largest manufacturers of harnesses, wires and other components for the automotive industry.
Bo Andersson, 65, graduated from the Swedish Military Academy and the senior management program at Harvard University, as well as a Bachelor of Business Administration from Stockholm University. His career in the automotive industry began in 1987 at the Swedish Saab Automobile AB.
Bo Andersson was in charge AvtoVAZ from 2013 to March 2016. Previously, from 2009, he was President of GAZ Group. From 1987 to 2009, he worked at GM, where he climbed to the position of Global Purchasing Team Leader for North American.
He will replace Rustam Radjabov who headed the company since 2016.
Reportedly, Uzavtosanoat, since 2018 UzAuto Motors has been going through a large-scale transformation process, turning from a loss-making business into a business that brings stable profits. Despite the 2020 pandemic, the company showed growth with an annual production of 281 thousand vehicles. Since 2020, Uzavtosanoat JSC has attracted Boston Consulting Group to develop its long-term strategy and in April 2021 opened a transformation office.
