Trilateral drills with the participation of the armies of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Russia will be held in Tajikistan from August 5 to 10, the Ministry of Defense said.
A unit of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan made a 200-kilometer march to the place of the exercises as part of a convoy. A platoon-tactical group of 180 servicemen went to the exercises on standard BTR-82 armored personnel vehicles, with modernized multiple launch rocket systems, mobile anti-aircraft guns, command post and evacuation vehicles and a mobile medical center with logistical support.
On the territory of the neighboring country, the convoy was accompanied from the air by MI-35 combat helicopters of the Air Force. The maneuvers will take place at the Harb-Maidon training ground in Tajikistan.
The drills will have to work out the tasks of countering external threats. Their main goal is to enhance the stability in Central Asia, prevent potential threats and exchange experience.
The drills take place in the backdrop of clashes in Afghanistan between government forces and the Taliban.
