On June 28, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the visiting Vice-President of Turkey Fuat Oktay, who is in Uzbekistan on a working visit, the presidential press service said.
The parties discussed issues of further expanding cooperation and promoting new cooperation projects of leading enterprises and companies of the two countries.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev commended the current level of Uzbek-Turkish relations, achieved through regular and fruitful dialogue at the highest level. In turn, Fuat Oktay reportedly thanked Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and conveyed best wishes on behalf of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The parties especially noted the upward trend in the bilateral cooperation and the measures taken to overcome the downsides of the pandemic, expressed satisfaction with the results of the events of the joint Intergovernmental Commission and the business program with the participation of business representatives held on June 28.
At the talks, the importance of comprehensive preparation for the second meeting of the Strategic Cooperation Council in Tashkent was underscored. The issues of increasing the two-way trade and the scale of cooperation, the adoption of an Agreement on preferential trade, the creation of a joint industrial zone, the promotion of programs in various fields with the active involvement of advanced Turkish experience were also touched upon.
