An officer of the Angren city police department, Bekzod Bobomirzaev, committed suicide in the building of the department, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
On June 27 at about 13:00, the patrol and guard officer Bobomirzayev, 34, shot himself in the jaw with a Makarov pistol on the 4th floor of the police station. He died on the spot from the resulting wound.
The causes of the incident are being studied by a specially created working group, which included representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and prosecutors.
The incident is under the personal control of Interior Minister Pulat Bobozhonov, the statement added.
A video message from the brother of the deceased surfaced on social networks, where his brother said that a certain inspector named Akmal put pressure on Bobomirzaev and demanded money.
The press service of the General Prosecutor's Office reported that the Tashkent province prosecutor's office launched a pre-investigation probe.
