On June 10, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for an official visit to Tajikistan at the invitation of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

During the talks, the heads of state plan to discuss the ways to further advance the Uzbek-Tajik friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership ties, the Uzbek President’s press service said. In particular, the parties will reportedly discuss political, trade and economic, investment, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, focusing on new points of growth and promoting specific projects for the development of practical cooperation in the long term.

The heads of state will also exchange views on international and regional agenda.

Following the talks, the two leaders are scheduled to sign a Joint Statement of the Heads of State, as well as, accords on setting up of an Uzbek-Tajik investment company, on cooperation in the field of industry and new technologies, a Road Map for the further development of cooperation in the field of agriculture and others.

In total, over 30 agreements in nearly all areas of bilateral cooperation are expected to be inked.

Also, as part of the visit, it is planned to enter into trade contracts and agreements on cooperation in various sectors worth over US$ 1 billion.

According to the program of the visit, the two leaders will attend joint cultural events in the capital of Tajikistan, hold meetings with representatives of the public, and visit a number of industrial facilities in the Sughd province.
