On May 24-28, experts from the OSCE ODIHR Needs Assessment Mission are expected to visit Uzbekistan due to the upcoming presidential elections in October 2021.
According to the press service of the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan (CEC), a needs assessment mission is usually sent several months prior to the start of elections to assess the pre-election situation in the country, including preparations for the elections.
“The OSCE ODIHR makes a decision on the observation of the elections in accordance with the recommendations presented as a result of the work of the mission. The mission also gives recommendations on the type, form, duration and volume of necessary measures to observe the elections,” the CEC said.
During the visit, the mission experts will meet with representatives of a number of ministries and departments, political parties and the media.
