On April 29, in Ashgabat the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov hosted the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the presidential press service said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on behalf of the people of Uzbekistan and on his own behalf, once again expressed condolences to the Turkmen leader over the passing of his father Myalikguly Berdimuhamedov.
At the talks, the two leaders discussed the bilateral agenda and regional cooperation and expressed their readiness to further promote the Ashgabat Agreement on the creation of an international transport and transit corridor, as well as to ensure the loading of the China-Central Asia-South Caucasus-Turkey multimodal route and continue cooperation on the development of transport and logistics infrastructure.
The heads of the two countries also stressed the importance of expanding and strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for his initiative to create the Tashkent park in Ashgabat.
A decision was made to hold in the near future in Tashkent the next meeting of the Uzbek-Turkmen intergovernmental commission on trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural cooperation.
