Today, April 29, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping, the presidential press service said.

The parties agreed to continue cooperation in studying the China's experience in the fight against poverty. In February, the Chinese government announced a complete victory in the eradication of poverty in the country. Over the past eight years, the country has invested about US$ 246 billion in the fight against poverty.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev thanked Xi Jinping for his help in combating the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The relevant departments and organizations of Uzbekistan and China will expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of health care, and in particular in mass vaccination.

The President of Uzbekistan reiterated his unwavering support for the One China Policy and the opposition to the "three forces of evil" - terrorism, extremism and separatism.

The ongoing dialogue as part of the Belt and Road initiative, including on the promotion of important infrastructure projects in the region, including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan road and railways, was noted. Uzbekistan’s proposal to enhance the interconnectivity of Central and South Asia was supported.

The leaders separately touched upon on the issues of boosting trade, economic, investment and financial cooperation.

They spoke in favor of strengthening cooperation between businesses of Uzbekistan and China in different sectors of the economy, as well as mutual assistance in promoting projects in high-tech sectors and agreed to step up the preparation and adoption of a joint medium-term program of full-scale trade, economic and investment cooperation.

The leaders instructed to strengthen the activities of the Uzbek-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee and hold its next meeting in the near future.

They also exchanged views on issues of the international agenda and regional cooperation, including within the Central Asia-China format.

The leaders reviewed the schedule of upcoming high level events and stressed the importance of preparing the planned visit of the Chinese President to Uzbekistan.
