On April 22, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a government meeting on the development of the services sector. He touched upon on the corruption among the senior officials of various state organizations.
“Many senior officials, governors, mayors, many heads of organizations, road, water, construction, medicine, preschool education have gotten ditched in the corruption. We are working hard to try to make money for the public prosperity, for economic growth after a pandemic," he said.
The President noted that the principle of "rule of law - inevitability of liability" will be applied in this matter.
“I want to apologize before the people and warn [the leaders] for the last time ... Let the governor of Samarkand province tell how many bribe-takers are in the lower level - preschool education, healthcare. One shameless person from the khokimiyat of the Andijan province takes US$ 128 thousand, US$ 30 thousand. Don’t Abdurakhmanov (the Andijan province governor Shukhrat Abdurakhmanov - ed.) and the head of the service (Department of the State Security Service for the province - ed.) know about this? Does the prosecutor know? Abdurakhmanov seems to know little about those whom he is working with. Even if he took 5 dollars, this is a betrayal of the president's policies,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
Earlier, several cases of fraud related to the allocation of land were suppressed in the Andijan province - where officials and citizens promised to assist in the allocation of land plots in return for US$ 7,500 to US$ 128,000.
