On December 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the press service of the Uzbek leader said.
“The two leaders noted with deep satisfaction the current high level of Uzbek-Turkmen friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership ties. Despite the pandemic, there is a upward trend in the two-way trade, with cooperation is deepening in the energy, transport and logistics sectors, and humanitarian exchange,” the message says.
The leaders spoke in favor of stepping up the activities of the joint Intergovernmental Commission to promote new projects of industrial cooperation and exchanged views on topical issues of the international and regional agenda.
“The head of our state supported the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan to hold a high-level Ashgabat conference, organized within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust. An agreement was reached on the participation of the delegation of Uzbekistan in the upcoming event,” the press service added.
At the end of the conversation, the leaders exchanged congratulations on the coming New Year, wishing the fraternal peoples of the two countries peace, well-being and prosperity.
