President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev in March will pay a state visit to Kazakhstan, this was announced during the 16th meeting of the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation, which started today in Tashkent.
"This visit will be a new stage of strategic partnership,"- the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Achilbay Ramatov said in his welcoming statement. "We consider this meeting as an important preparatory event intended for developing practical measures to fill the agenda of the upcoming highest level meetings with concrete and significant projects", - he added.
The delegation of Kazakhstan is headed by the First Deputy Prime Minister, Askar Mamin. In his welcoming speech, he noted that cooperation between the two countries is rapidly developing and the current meeting of the intergovernmental commission confirms the commitment of both sides to strengthen multifaceted cooperation.
In 2016 the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan exceeded US$ 2 billion.
Currently in Uzbekistan there are 229 enterprises with Kazakh capital, including 192 joint ventures and 37 enterprises with 100 percent foreign capital.
Representatives offices of three Kazakh firms and companies are accredited at the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Trade of Uzbekistan.
