After videoconference meeting with the Uzbek Deputy PM/Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov, the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, speaking to the press, said that Uzbekistan is a "key economic partner" in Central Asia for Hungary, Dunyo news agency reported.

Péter Szijjártó underscored that the Uzbek market is of great interest for many Hungarian enterprises, and the government of Uzbekistan supports their aspirations due to the excellent political relations between our countries.

"An important agreement was reached to simplify the registration of Hungarian medicines on the Uzbek market: “The Hungarian pharmaceutical company Richter has been present on the Uzbek market for 25 years, with 80 names of its products registered in the country", he added. 

He noted that the Hungarian company, with the financial assistance of Eximbank, is supplying Uzbek banks with three thousand Hungarian ATMs, and preparations are underway for the implementation of three joint Hungarian-Uzbek investment projects in the food and agricultural industries related to cattle breeding, grain processing and the construction of a plant. for the production of vegetable oil.

“The Republic of Uzbekistan plans to build a nuclear power plant with the assistance of the Russian corporation Rosatom and an agreement has been reached on Hungary's participation in the training of future Uzbek nuclear engineers and specialists. This became possible due to the increase in the number of scholarship holders from Uzbekistan studying in Hungary to 100 people from next year. Hungary supports Uzbekistan's negotiations with the European Union on Expanded Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, as well as on joining the World Trade Organization.”

The Hungarian Foreign Minister stressed that thanks to close political and economic cooperation, there are no obstacles to deepening trade, as evidenced by the fact that despite the pandemic, in the first eight months of this year, the two-way trade grew by 21%.
