Uzbekistan’s GDP growth Q1 of 2020 is expected at 4.1-4.4%, the Deputy PM/ Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov said at a briefing on Wednesday.

He added that Uzbekistan began to feel the impact of the global economic crisis since March, which affected the country's macroeconomic figures.

“We expect the second quarter to be very challenging for us. Quarantine related restrictions started in April, but there is a high probability that they will continue in May,” he noted.

Jamshid Kuchkarov pointed out that the service sector accounted for 32–33% of Uzbekistan’s GDP, which is primarily limited during quarantine.
