Immediately upon arrival in Baku, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the press service of the Uzbek leader said.

The two leaders explored the ways to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and identified priority tasks for the future.

Particular attention was paid to establishing business contacts at the level of leading companies and businesses of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as the development of cooperation in industry, agriculture, transport and other priority sectors.

An agreement was reached on stepping up the activities of the joint intergovernmental commission and organizing mutual visits of delegations of the provinces of the two countries.

Ilham Aliyev congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Uzbekistan's joining the Council of Turkic-speaking states, noting that this will undoubtedly give a new impetus to further deepening bilateral relations and regional cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
