The Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov today received the copies of credentials from the new Ambassador of Afghanistan, Ahmad Khalid Elmi, the ministry said.
The parties discussed topical issues of bilateral ties and confirmed their interest in stepping up political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation and the participation of Uzbekistan in the implementation of infrastructure and socio-economic projects in Afghanistan.
Special attention was paid to the processes of peaceful settlement of the long-term conflict in Afghanistan. The Ambassador on behalf of President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani conveyed his appreciation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his significant contribution to the launch of the inter-Afghan dialogue.
The parties also considered the agenda of the first meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, which is scheduled to be held in Tashkent.
