A meeting between the Uzbek PM Abdulla Aripov and the Chief Executive of Afghanistan Abdullah Abdullah was held in Mazar-i-Sharif, Balkh province in northern Afghanistan.

The PM Aripov and CE Abdullah discussed the bilateral economic ties and noted it was high time to implement the signed agreements.

PM Aripov promised that Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate with Afghanistan in various fields, including agriculture, trade, transport and energy sectors.

In particular, he promised to allocate funds for Afghanistan’s electrification.

"Uzbekistan will provide US$ 45 million to build the transmission line from Sarkhan (near Bukhara) in Uzbekistan to Pol-i-Khomri (the center of Baghlan province), which is almost 200 km long and will cost worth US$ 110 million," he said.

The Afghan government promised to create conditions for Uzbek investors and requested similar opportunities for Afghan investors in Uzbekistan.
