President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev today received the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev, who arrived in our country to attend the first meeting of the Joint Commission at the level of heads of government, the presidential press service said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev, warmly welcoming the guest, noted with satisfaction the intensive development and consistent strengthening of bilateral strategic partnership and alliance ties.

In turn, the Russian Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the hospitality and conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The parties reportedly emphasized that the regular and productive dialogue at the highest level, the joint implementation of the deals reached at the state visit of the President of Russia to Uzbekistan last October, contributed to the expansion of Uzbek-Russian multifaceted cooperation and noted the upward trend in trade, the green corridor's significance in supplying agricultural products, th simplified customs regime for textile products.

It is noteworthy that US$ 13 billion worth of investment projects are being implemented as part of the bilateral Program of Economic Cooperation between provinces and businesses.

Today, leading Russian companies and banks such as Gazprom, Lukoil, Forus, Tatneft, Power Machines, Kamaz, Eurocement Group, Gazprombank, VEB and many others are operating in Uzbekistan.

Particular attention is paid to timely and high-quality preparing, together with the Rosatom State Corporation, for the strategic project for the construction of the nuclear plant in Uzbekistan.

It was emphasized that the first meeting of the Joint Commission, which will be held today in Urgench, will be an important stage in the preparation of the upcoming summit meetings and will allow us to identify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.

In conclusion, the parties reiterated mutual readiness for further advancing the long-term Uzbek-Russian strategic partnership and alliance ties, the development of full-scale practical.
