Tashkent will host the second Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC) on April 3-4 to discuss measures to combat the effects of climate change. The CACCC 2019 will bring together over 200 participants from major national, regional and international organizations.

The conference is the follow-up event of the World Bank's initiative to exchange knowledge and information on climate change in Central Asia region, supported by the CAMP4ASB project. The conference will be held with the support of the World Bank, the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, the Uzbek Meteorology authority and the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia.

The main objective of the conference is to promote decision-making in the field of adaptation to the climate change, as well as mitigation of its consequences in Central Asia. According to the latest report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the effects of global warming of even 1.5 ° C will be much more severe than expected. Countries will require significant efforts to mitigate and adapt to climate change. The conference will provide up-to-date information on expected climate change trends, including the latest scientific data. Participants will be able to discuss the necessary joint measures to prevent the worst scenario of its impact on natural ecosystems, the environment and public health.

Special attention at CACCC 2019 will be devoted to issues of global and national policies, climate services, capacity building, the introduction of modern technologies in the field of climate change and the opportunities of climate financing.

The final document will be drafted following the conference, containing recommendations and a call for action on climate change adaptation and enhanced regional cooperation.
