President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on December 23 received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerlan Idrisov, who arrived in the country on a working visit.
Presiden Mirziyoyev congratulated the leadership and the brotherly people of Kazakhstan on the 25th anniversary of independence. He emphasized that the existing trust-based and rich Uzbek-Kazakh dialogue corresponds to the long-term interests of both countries and friendly peoples.
The sides noted that the two countries, being close neighbors and time-tested partners, are equally interested in the security and stability, sustainable economic and social development and prosperity of each other and the Central Asian region as a whole.
In this context, the election of Kazakhstan as the non-permanent UN Security Council member for the years 2017-2018, strongly supported by Uzbekistan, opens up new possibilities for promoting the interests of the Central Asian states at the global level.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Erlan Idrisov exchanged views on the entire range of Uzbek-Kazakh affairs, particularly in trade and economic, investment, transport and communication areas. Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as the largest trading partners in the region, are ready to further expand trade and use all available reserves.
The sides confirmed their commitment to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the spirit of the Interstate Agreements on Eternal Friendship and Strategic Partnership.
