President Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the informal meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State in St. Petersburg on Thursday, the Presidential press service said.
The leaders considered the ways to step up trade and economic cooperation, to boost trade, to tap the transport and logistics potential of the CIS states, as well as to strengthen security, preventing and countering modern challenges and threats.
They also underscored the need to continue humanitarian, educational and tourist exchanges.
Uzbekistan next year will co-chair the Commonwealth, and in 2020 will host CIS summit.
On th esidelines of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev held bilateral talks with the heads of a number of states, and discussed the outcomes in 2018 and promising areas of cooperation for the next year.
