The Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Uzbekistan on a state visit on October 18–19. The press service of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced a brief program of the visit.
The two leaders will consider the state of Uzbek-Russian relations, the ways to expand strategic partnership ties, new joint projects in various fields, and discuss the ways to contribute to the stability and security in the region and promoting the peace process in Afghanistan.
For the first time, Education Forum and the Uzbekistan-Russia Interregional Cooperation Forum will be held as part of the visit. Also the counterparts are scheduled to launch the construction of the nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
Following the talks, the Joint Statement of the Heads of State, the Economic Cooperation Program for 2019–2024, the Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation Program for 2019–2021, the Agreement on Establishment of Branches of the Russian Universities in Uzbekistan, the Suffa Observatory Completion Road Map and a number of other accords are to be signed.
In addition, major investment and trade contracts are expected to be inked between regions and firms of Uzbekistan and Russia.
