The Secretary of the Security Council under the President of Uzbekistan Viktor Mahmudov and Assistant to the President - Secretary of the Security Council of Kazakhstan Nurlan Yermekbayev held regular consultations in Tashkent Wednesday, the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.

The counterparts reportedly discussed topical issues of regional security and bilateral cooperation, and the current state of affairs and prospects for enhancing the security in Central Asia, taking into account the situation in Afghanistan, further stepping up and expansion of cooperation in the military-technical and military spheres.

They also touched upon the cooperation in countering illegal migration, customs control, improving security in civil aviation, and considered the mid-term outcomes of the fulfilling the provisions of the Roadmap for reconstruction and modernization of checkpoints, highways and improving the adjacent territory on the Kazakh-Uzbek state border.

Based on the results of the consultations, specific instructions have been given to the relevant state bodies of the two countries.
