Uzbekistan imported 2.35 million mobile phones worth a combined $477 million in H1 of 2026, the State Statistics Committee said.
Reportedly, import volumes rose by 477,530 units, or 25.4%, compared with the same period in 2025. The average price per imported handset came to $202.
China remained by far the largest source of mobile devices, supplying 1.81 million units — nearly 77% of total imports. The remainder came from Vietnam (462,000 units), India (39,600), South Korea (28,840) and other countries (11,540 units).
The State Customs Committee has previously credited the implementing of its IMEI registration system with delivering strong results. Customs duties collected from phone imports reached 1 trillion soums in the ten months from January to October 2025 alone.
"Two years ago, we were collecting just 500 billion soums a year in duties from phone imports. Now we've collected 1 trillion in ten months — revenue to the state budget has nearly doubled," said Farkhod Olimjonov, head of a department at the Customs Committee.
Under current rules, Uzbeks may bring goods into the country duty-free for personal use up to $1,000 in value when arriving by air, $500 by rail, and $300 by car. Any value above these thresholds is subject to customs duty.
