Uzbekistan recorded a sharp increase in electric vehicle imports between January and July 2026, the State Customs Committee said in a report.

Reportedly, the country imported 46,749 electric vehicles worth a combined $527.2 million over the seven-month period, at an average price of roughly $11,300 per vehicle.

By comparison, Uzbekistan imported 20,858 electric vehicles worth $292.9 million from abroad during the same period in 2025, with an average price of around $14,000 per unit.

That means import volumes rose by nearly 2.2 times year-on-year over the first seven months of 2025 and 2026, while the average import price per vehicle fell by roughly $2,700.

Electric vehicle sales have also risen sharply in recent months. In June alone, 8,400 electric vehicles changed hands on the primary and secondary markets — an increase of about 63.5% compared with May.

More than 40,000 electric vehicles were sold in Uzbekistan in the first half of 2026, up 40% from the same period last year.

Market activity has picked up in most provinces of the country, the data show. The only province to see a decline in sales was Syrdarya, where the market contracted by 2.9%. The steepest sales growth was recorded in the Jizzakh (101%), Bukhara (64.6%) and Fergana (58.5%) provinces.

The bulk of electric vehicle sales, however, remain concentrated in Tashkent. The capital accounted for nearly 63% of the national market in June, when sales there climbed 78% from May to reach 5,300 vehicles.
