President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his today’s address to the parliament proposed to declare the year 2018 in Uzbekistan as the Year of Proactive Entrepreneurship, Innovative Ideas and Technologies.
The proposal was greeted with long applauses. "If these (applauses) are coming from the heart, then I'm glad, thank you very much!" - the head of state joked in response.
Explaining the choice of the name for the year, the President stressed that it should be given not for the sake of a beautiful name and for window dressing, but for the sake of practical results.
The year 2017 was announced as the Year of Dialogue with the People and Human Interests, the authorities listened to the people and now we need to act for results, he said.
