The Minister of Energy, Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, met with a Japanese delegation led by Takeshi Hashimoto, Chairman of the Japan-Uzbekistan Business Cooperation Committee under the Japan Business Federation (KEIDANREN). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

The meeting was attended by Muzaffar Abdurahmonov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Japan, alongside executives from leading firms including Shimizu Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Sojitz Corporation, Mizuho Bank, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries EMEA, Marubeni Corporation, and ITOCHU Corporation.

During the talks, the sides reviewed the outcomes of ongoing energy cooperation and evaluated new joint initiatives. They emphasized that the partnership between the two nations reached a new level following President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's state visit to Japan on December 18–20, 2025. This has driven a notable surge in Japanese investments across Uzbekistan's energy sector, particularly in renewable energy ventures.

To date, 14 major energy projects worth a total of $5.6 billion have already been completed in collaboration with Japanese companies. Currently, 6 ongoing projects valued at $2.6 billion are underway, while another 7 promising initiatives totaling $7.7 billion are under development.

The sides discussed broadening cooperation to build main power transmission grids and substations using the EPC+F model. They also focused on boosting energy efficiency by electrifying compressor stations within the gas transit system, and advancing green hydrogen technologies. Additionally, the discussions touched upon developing charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, implementing modern technical standards, integrating renewable energy sources into the national grid, and exchanging expertise to train industry professionals.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership in the energy sector and advancing mutually beneficial projects.
