Tashkent International Airport has deployed the German-engineered AVES Airport bird strike prevention system, Uzbekistan Airports said in a statement.
Operating with complete autonomy, the system activates and deactivates itself in sync with aircraft movements. Its high-precision cameras can spot birds at a distance of up to 1,000 meters during the day and 400 meters at night, maintaining effectiveness even in adverse weather conditions.
To keep the runways clear, the system utilizes targeted acoustic and ultrasonic signals. These deterrents are constantly randomized to ensure birds do not become desensitized to the sound. Furthermore, Uzbekistan Airports clarified that the system intelligently adjusts volume based on distance and the surrounding environment to minimize its ecological footprint.
The AI-driven technology is capable of detecting, tracking, and repelling up to 256 birds simultaneously.
