During the government meeting today, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev sharply criticized officials who, he claimed, distance themselves from the problems of business owners rather than solving them.

He noted that when such issues escalate to the national level, these leaders often resort to excuses to deflect blame. He highlighted a specific case in Nurafshan, where a local entrepreneur has been blocked by red tape from starting construction for two years. Instead of offering assistance, the city’s mayor has reportedly been more "preoccupied with finding out how that information reached the President's office."

Furthermore, Mirziyoyev pointed out that the mayors of the Guzar, Narpay, Urgench, Yangiyul, and Chinaz districts have yet to launch projects, despite having already received funding to develop business infrastructure. He reminded officials that an additional 262 billion soums was allocated from the national budget this year specifically to bolster infrastructure in these regions.

In light of these failures, provincial governors have been given directives to evaluate—as early as today—whether these district mayors are fit to remain in office if they cannot fulfill their duties.
