2,328 violations related to the illegal felling of trees and shrubs were identified in Uzbekistan in 2025, the press service of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change said.

Reportedly, 953 valuable and 2,388 low-value trees were illegally felled. The environmental damage in these cases was estimated at 13.3 billion soums. Fines totaling 20.5 billion soums were imposed for these violations.

Furthermore, 44 cases involving estimated damages of 34.09 billion soums were sent to the prosecutor's office for legal review. Criminal cases were initiated for 33 violations.

Illegal tree felling was most frequently observed in Tashkent city (338 cases), Bukhara province (281), and Karakalpakstan (268).

Last November, the felling of 174 trees and shrubs on Babur street in the capital caused a stir. The damage was estimated at 1.46 billion soums. In the Bulungur district of the Samarkand province, approximately 1,000 trees were felled during the concreting of a canal.

By comparison, the number of illegal logging incidents of valuable tree species in 2021 was 4,182, in 2022 – 1,669, in 2023 – 1,097, and in 2024 – 1,098.
