Uzbekistan delivered its fourth shipment of humanitarian aid this year to the people of Afghanistan, weighing approximately 390 tons. The ceremony took place on Monday in Hairatan, Balkh Province.

According to the Uzbekistan Foreign Ministry, the shipment includes food, medicine, and medical equipment.

The ceremony was attended by the President’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev, and Governor of Surkhandarya Province Ulugbek Kosimov.

Balkh Province Governor Muhammad Yusuf Wafa expressed gratitude to the President Mirziyoyev for his support and concern for the people of Afghanistan during a harsh winter and the hardships they are experiencing.

"Amid political processes in the world and the closure of borders with a number of neighboring states, we highly value that for us, the only reliable, always open, and friendly border is with Uzbekistan. "We will never forget the support provided," UzA quoted the governor as saying.

Uzbekistan sent aid to Afghanistan in March ahead of Ramadan (almost 200 tons), in June in honor of Eid al-Adha (183 tons), and in September to assist the population affected by the earthquake (265 tons). Furthermore, in May, the Ministry of Agriculture donated agricultural seeds to Afghanistan.
