As reported earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev backed the roadmap for creating Tashkent’s transport effective management system Thursday.

The roadmap includes plans for implementing major road infrastructure projects before 2030.

The roadmap includes a $271.1 million item on erecting interchanges, dedicated bus lanes, and other facilities in collaboration with China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Co. Ltd and financed by loans from the Bank of China.

Dedicated Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Lanes

Of this amount, over a third—$98.5 million—will be contributed to the creation of dedicated bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes in line with the transportation plan presented in October.

As part of $6 million, the entire section of Shakhrisabz Street, from Mirabad Street (Grand Mir Hotel) to Amir Temur Avenue will get a 3-kilometer dedicated bus lane. .

Two more BRT corridors are expected to be operational by the end of November 2026:

  • along Amir Temur Avenue, from the Uch Kahramon intersection to the Central Station (11 km);
  • along Yangi Sergeli, between Chashtepa and Kipchak Streets (5.5 km).

An additional $16.5 million will be contributed for these projects.

Furthermore, the roadmap provides for erecting 38 km of dedicated BRT lanes along the following routes: Mirzo Ulugbek - Feruza - Yuzrabot, Lutfi - Mukimi, Karatash - Kukcha Darvoza, and Small Ring Line - Parkent Streets. The total cost will be $76 million, with completion expected by the end of 2029.

If necessary, the list of streets and the scope of work could be adjusted after approval by the Cabinet of Ministers.

Road Repairs and New Interchanges

In addition, A $36.5 million loan from the Bank of China will be used for road repairs and roadside infrastructure upgrades on 16 streets totaling 36 km in 2026.

The next project is a $25.4 million overpass project connecting Pahlavon Mahmud and Elbek Streets over the Small Ring Road near the Zo'r TV studio.

$33.5 million will be contributed in 2027 for the reconstruction of nine streets (33 km) with dedicated bus lanes, protective barriers, and speed bumps to improve pedestrian safety.

Another $26.2 million will be contributed for the construction of a road tunnel under Amir Temur Avenue at the intersection with Rikhsili and Yangishahan Streets (Yunusabad Circle).

In 2028, reconstruction of another 15 street sections, totaling 50 km, is also planned. The project price is estimated at $51 million. The work also includes dedicated lanes for buses, the installation of protective barriers, and speed bumps to improve pedestrian safety.

China Construction Fifth Engineering Division Corp. was registered in Tashkent on September 11, 2024. Its authorized capital is 1 million soums, and its primary activity is other specialized construction work not included in other categories. Liu Rongqi is listed as the founder and director.

It served as the contractor for the Shota Rustaveli Street reconstruction project in Tashkent, where the first dedicated lane was installed down the center of the street. The company is also an investor in the reconstruction.

In July, Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov said that China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) had secured $300 million for the Tashkent Mayor's Office, which would be used for large-scale reconstruction and renovation.

In November 2024, the Tashkent Mayor's Office and China State Construction Engineering Corporation reached an agreement on projects worth nearly $1 billion.
