106 business entities have been temporarily suspended in Tashkent city and Tashkent province, and administrative fines have been imposed on 58 greenhouses, the Ministry of Ecology's press service said.
In pursuance of the February 8, 2025 Cabinet Resolution, specific steps have been identified in Tashkent and the Tashkent province to reduce smoke, dust, and toxic gas emissions from greenhouses, industrial facilities, and social facilities.
In particular, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Tashkent city mayor office and Tashkent province governor’s office have formed 300-strong working groups. They have conducted a complete inventory check of greenhouses, industrial enterprises, construction materials factories, and other large manufacturers, as well as social facilities located in Tashkent province.
4,869 facilities were checked, including 595 greenhouses (381 in the Tashkent province and 214 in the city of Tashkent), 2,265 social facilities, and 1,998 industrial enterprises and construction materials factories. Preventive and educational campaigns were conducted at all facilities.
The checks found violations of air quality legislation. At some facilities, emissions of harmful chemical, physical, and biological substances were recorded. Strict steps were taken for each identified incident to prevent and mitigate such violations.
In particular, 58 greenhouse owners were held accountable for violating smoke exhaust system operating regulations, 106 greenhouses were suspended, and 387 greenhouses were issued official warnings to bring their operations into compliance with environmental requirements and to prohibit the use of plastic film, tires, and plant residues as fuel. Inspections continue on a systematic basis.
