President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of the IT-park project in Tashkent’s Mirzo Ulugbek district.

The project encompasses 6 buildings - the AI Center, the Center for Space and Future Technologies, 2 20-story office buildings, as well as service and shopping centers.

The project’s phase I was commissioned two years ago through $200 million in investment. Six 20-25-story office buildings and a congress hall were erected on 4 hectares.

Currently, the number of resident-companies of the IT-Park has reached 3,200 employing over 14,000 highly skilled labour. Last year, residents sold $1.6 billion worth of services, and by the end of this year this figure is expected to surpass $2.5 billion.

Export volumes are projected to surpass $1 billion for the first time.

As part of the Uzbekistan - 2030 strategy, over 300,000 young people will provided high-paying IT-sector jobs. Uzbekistan's AI potential alone is estimated at $10 billion.

"I am confident that this large complex, the foundation stone of which is being laid today, will play an important role in achieving the great goals we have set for ourselves, as well as in further strengthening the beneficial cooperation between investors and Uzbekistan," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

According to the project, the rea of the "IT-Park" will be expanded by 1.5 times. A $150 million 12 MWt data center will be erected in collaboration with the Saudi "Data Volt". In the next phases, another $3 billion will be invested, bringing the capacity to 500 megawatts.
